  • What are the benefits of Pilates?

Pilates is a low-impact, full-body practice designed to build strength, stability, mobility, posture, and control.

With consistent practice, Pilates can help:

    • Strengthen your core, glutes, back, arms, and legs
    • Improve posture and alignment
    • Increase flexibility and mobility
    • Build balance, stability, and coordination
    • Support healthy movement and joint function
    • Improve body awareness and movement control
    • Reduce stiffness and everyday tension
    • Complement other activities, sports, and strength training
    • Build strength without the repetitive impact of many traditional workouts

Pilates also connects breath with intentional movement, creating a practice that challenges both the body and the mind.

At Bella Forma, we combine classical Pilates principles with contemporary movement and training techniques, giving you a variety of ways to build strength, move better, and keep progressing.

The goal isn’t simply to get through a workout. It’s to leave moving, standing, and feeling better than when you walked in.

  • Why is Pilates so popular?

Pilates has become so popular because it offers a rare combination: strength, mobility, posture, control, and a challenging workout without high impact.

It can be adapted for nearly every experience level, from someone taking their first class to an advanced athlete, while still offering plenty of room to progress.

People also love that Pilates supports how they move outside the studio. It can improve core strength, stability, flexibility, balance, posture, and body awareness, while complementing everything from walking and running to golf, strength training, and everyday life.

And Pilates offers variety. Reformer, Mat, Springboard, classical exercises, contemporary programming, props, heated classes, and specialized equipment can all create a very different experience.

In short: Pilates is challenging, adaptable, effective, and designed to help you move and feel better.

  • I'd love to come to Bella Forma...where do I start?

Great! We're looking forward to meeting you.

Whether you're brand new to Pilates or an experienced Reformer enthusiast, we recommend starting with our 30-minute Complimentary Welcome Reformer session. You'll get a tour of the studio, learn about the Reformer with the Konnector, practice on it, and get comfortable before booking a full-length class.

If you're already experienced with the Konnector, feel free to jump right into any class.

From there, you'll be ready to book the Reformer: Precision class. Once you feel comfortable with the standard Pilates exercises and principles, the other Reformer classes are open to try.

For Mat classes, all levels are welcome anytime — no previous experience required. We do recommend reading the class descriptions to choose which ones you'd like to try.

  • How often should I come to class to see and feel the benefits?

For clients who are new to Pilates, we recommend two to three classes per week. That frequency gives you the consistency to build strength, improve posture and mobility, develop greater body awareness, and continue progressing from week to week.

And once you fall in love with Pilates, don’t be surprised if you find yourself wanting to come more often.

You may begin to feel changes after just a few classes, particularly in your core connection, posture, mobility, and control. More visible changes come with consistent practice over time.

That consistency is one of the biggest benefits of becoming a Bella Forma member. When classes are built into your monthly routine, it’s easier to stay accountable, maintain momentum, and make Pilates part of your lifestyle rather than an occasional workout.

Bella Forma memberships are designed to support different levels of practice:

    • House Pass — 4 classes/month: about one class per week, ideal if Pilates complements other workouts
    • House Essentials — 8 classes/month: about two classes per week, a strong foundation for a consistent practice
    • House Blend — 12 classes/month: about three classes per week, our sweet spot for clients looking for steady progress and noticeable results
    • Founders — Unlimited classes: a limited-time membership for clients who want the freedom to practice more frequently and make Bella Forma a regular part of their week

Because Bella Forma offers Reformer, Mat, Springboard®, infrared-heated Mat, Konnector® training, and both classical and contemporary Pilates, you can mix up your classes throughout the week while continuing to build strength, mobility, control, and confidence in your movement.

Pilates works best when it becomes a practice, not an occasional workout. Membership makes that consistency easier.

  • What if I've never done Pilates before?

All are welcome. Even if you haven't exercised in a while (or maybe ever! 😊),

Pilates is accessible for all body types and experience levels. Many pre- and post-natal women and those recovering from physical injuries participate in Pilates with clearance from their doctors.

We are a judgment-free place where every person is welcomed and encouraged— never pushed. We want each person to feel better leaving a class than when they walked in.

Please reach out to us directly if you'd like to discuss any restrictions or schedule a one-on-one assessment.

  • I've heard about the Reformer...what exactly is it?

The Reformer is a Pilates machine that uses a sliding carriage, springs, and cables to create resistance and support — giving you a full-body workout that is both challenging and deeply restorative.

Unlike a mat, the Reformer meets your body where it is, making exercises more accessible for beginners while offering endless challenge for seasoned practitioners.

The result? Longer, leaner muscles, improved posture, core strength, and better body awareness — all in one low-impact workout.

At Bella Forma, we take the traditional Reformer experience to the next level. Our studio is equipped with ten Balanced Body® Studio Reformers® — one of the most respected, top-of-the-line Reformers in the world of Pilates — each featuring the Konnector®, elevating your practice with a uniquely connected, full-body experience you won't find anywhere else in the area.

  • What makes Bella Forma's Reformer special? What is the Konnector?

    You're in for a treat!

The Konnector® is part of the Balanced Body® Studio Reformer®.  It works like a traditional Reformer — but so much more. It's a uniquely connected, fluid experience — and one of the things that makes Bella Forma special.

Created by Viktor Uygan, the Konnector takes Pilates on the Reformer to a dynamic new level. The single-rope system engages your entire body — lift your legs and you'll feel it in your arms! Four loops attached through pulleys to one rope integrate the action of your limbs and torso in every movement, providing constant proprioceptive feedback that challenges your body to coordinate core stability with limb mobility — building full-body integration and stronger core activation.

We are proud to be the only studio in the surrounding area and just the second in Delaware to offer this remarkable way to practice Pilates. 🌟 Fun fact: our instructors trained directly with Viktor himself — he came to Delaware to make it happen!

  • What is the Pilates Springboard?

The Pilates Springboard is a wall-mounted apparatus that uses springs, straps, and handles to add resistance and support to traditional Pilates exercises.

It was invented in 2003 by master Pilates teacher Ellie Herman as a streamlined variation of the Pilates Cadillac, bringing spring-based resistance work into a compact wall-mounted format.

Bella Forma has ten Springboards, and we incorporate them into Mat classes to add variety, resistance, and another way to challenge the body.

Because the springs provide continuous feedback, Springboard work can help you:

    • Build full-body strength
    • Improve core stability and control
    • Increase mobility and flexibility
    • Develop better posture and alignment
    • Strengthen the arms, legs, back, and shoulders
    • Improve balance, coordination, and body awareness

The Springboard combines many of the principles of classical Pilates with a different kind of resistance than the Reformer. You’ll work standing, seated, kneeling, and lying down, making it a highly versatile and challenging practice.

For founder Amy Silvestri, adding Springboards was an intentional part of the Bella Forma vision. She wanted Mat classes to feel just as dynamic, thoughtful, and elevated as the Reformer experience, while giving clients more ways to build strength, explore movement, and keep their practice fresh.

Think of it as Pilates against the wall, powered by springs.

  • What are the benefits of heated Pilates classes, aka Hot Pilates?

Our heated Mat classes use Heating Green™ infrared heat, which works differently from traditional forced-air heating. Infrared radiant heat warms the body and surrounding surfaces directly, creating an even, comfortable warmth throughout the studio — with no fans or blowing air.

Practicing Pilates in a heated environment may help:

    • Warm muscles more quickly, making movement feel more fluid
    • Support mobility and flexibility as the body warms
    • Increase circulation during movement
    • Reduce feelings of muscle stiffness
    • Encourage a deeper sweat
    • Create an added cardiovascular challenge as your body works to regulate its temperature
    • Support a focused, immersive class experience

And yes, you'll sweat. Come hydrated, bring water, and expect to leave feeling worked, warm, and refreshed. 🔥

  • What do I need to bring to class?

Grip socks are required in both the Mat and Reformer rooms — don't forget to bring a pair! If you need some or forget yours, we have a variety of styles available for both men and women.

In the heated Mat room, mats are provided — no need to bring your own. Towels are welcome too, and if you need one, we have Bala® Studio towels available for rent and for sale.

Don't forget a water bottle — staying hydrated is key, especially in our heated Mat room! You're welcome to fill up at our Culligan® water station. And if you need a little something extra, we have a variety of beverages available in the Bella Forma Café.

  • Where do I park?

Park in the front, back, or side of Bella Forma Pilates at 3003 Concord Pike, or on the adjacent streets. Feel free to create your own spot in any unlined areas in our parking lot— just be mindful not to block others in.

Please help us be good neighbors to surrounding businesses and nearby homeowners by not parking in their spaces or blocking driveways.

For 5:30/6:00 AM classes, you can park at the restaurant lot next door.

    Thank you! 🙏
